Products and Services : Insulating Concrete Formwork
Insulating Concrete Formwork
Amvic agent
Insulating Concrete Formwork is a building system that uses expanded polystyrene formwork for an in-situ concrete structure.
Insulating Concrete Formwork (ICF) is a building system based on large, hollow, lightweight polystyrene forms that interlock together without glue or mortar to provide a formwork system into which concrete is poured.
Once set, the concrete becomes a high strength, air-tight structure. The polystyrene remains in place as insulation, and is clad outside and inside with the chosen finishes

With this Modern Method of Construction (MMC) you can build warm, comfortable places to live and work.
The ICF system is a cost effective method of construction suitable for a wide variety of project types, including:
Residential projects The Insulating Concrete Formwork system allows the system to build practically any design conceivable. The excellent structural performance of in-situ concrete allows much more design flexibility than would be possible with alternative building systems. Once finished, the AMVIC structure offers higher levels of occupant comfort and lower running costs for the lifetime of the building.
Basements A crystalline growth additive is mixed with the concrete which is vibrated within the AMVIC system to ensure compaction. The finished Insulating Concrete Formwork wall is then fully waterproof.
Large structures Leisure Complexes Churches & Community Buildings Schools Health Centres Apartment Blocks
Extensions Insulating Concrete Formwork can be used to extend virtually any type of structure irrespective of how it was originally constructed. A sound structural connection between the original building and the new extension is easy to achieve using a range of proprietary fixings. The extension can be suitably clad to exactly match the original building.
Swimming pools An ICF pool is not an additional expensive insulation layer applied to a pool once the pool shell has been constructed traditionally – it replaces parts of the construction process – saving time and money. Cost benefits are achieved by combining multiple steps into one step. i.e. the shuttering construction and insulation application is performed in a single operation
Fox Bros contracts are the sole and exclusive agents for Amvic Insulating Concrete Formwork application in Northern Ireland.
Amvic
Amvic ICFs consist of 2 panels of 1.2 metres long, 0.4 metres high, and 64mm thick high density polystyrene panels, spaced apart by high strength polypropylene webs. The forms provide a permanent, stay-in-place shuttering system for concrete construction.
The system is based on a reinforced concrete core, which provides the necessary structural integrity, noise attenuation and durability to the building
The polystyrene panels provide the thermal insulation to the structure, with a U-value as low as 0.22W/m²K being achievable
The forms, being extremely light (3.5 kg each), are simple and easy to build, with all of the attendant handling and safety benefits.
Amvic ICF is the most user-friendly ICF on the market due to its innovative design which increases speed of construction, reduces labour costs and provides the highest level of performance during and after construction.
The powerful combination of the patented, reversible FormLockT interlock, EPS composition, innovative web design and web spacing result in:
• A simple, strong formwork system that requires less support during installation giving straight, flat and plumb walls
• Less wastage when compared against other ICF or building systems.
• The ability to withstand internal concrete vibration, ensuring a structurally superior wall.
Amvic ICF walls are finished internally by gypsum board screwed directly to the integral webs.
A wide range of external finishes may be used including brick, stone, timber cladding, and renders. The certified external finishes are by Relius Renders, a BASF Group Company, specially designed for use on external wall insulation systems. A wide variety of colours and textures are available.
